Re:
The Quarry Lane School, Phase II
Handling Special Events
Dear Ms. Macdonald:
The Quarry Lane School will implement The Transportation Management Program
(TMS) prepared by Abrams Associates and take the following steps to avoid any
potential traffic flow and overflow of parking on its campus during school operations and
school special events:
Dublin School Director will serve as the TMS Coordinator and he will have meetings
with all new employees, parents, and students to explain our staggered school hours, all
special events as well as our car pool and school bus programs. There will be
management and control of dedicated drop-off and pick-up locations for students, defined
travel routes for parents and student vehicles, as well as defined staff parking spaces. Car
pooling of students will be encouraged by providing dedicated car pool parking lots for
cars having 2 or more students. In addition to the above measures, we will pass parking
passes for high school students who have grade point average (GPA) above B+ or A
depending on needs, if we run into parking space problems in the future.
In September 2003, The Quarry Lane School also started a new school bus service for
students who live in Pleasanton, Livermore., and Danville area at their parent's request.
One school bus is dedicated for Pleasanton and Livermore area and the second school bus
is dedicated for Danville area. Currently, we only have 10 to 15 students in each route
however this may go up once Phase II operation is completed. The school also plans to
purchase more school buses once Phase II school operations are put in place. The
school's bus service operations is not included and required in the Transportation
Management Program prepared by Abrams Associates. The school bus service will

alleviate some of the traffic flow and parking demand during drop off and pick up
periods.
The Quarry Lane School will have a total of 149 parking spaces including 37 compact
(52 compact allowed, 52%) and 7 handicap (6 allowed; 1 handicap per 25).
Currently, we stagger school's opening and closing hours for the elementary and the
middle school and the program has been running very successfully for four school years.
We never observed any traffic related issues during these four school years. The
school operating hours will be staggered similarly in the following matter to avoid any
traffic concession when we complete phase II:
Elementary School:
Opening Hours: 8:30 a.m.
Closing Hours: 3:30 p.m.
Extended After School Care Closing Hour:
6:30p. m
Middle School:
Opening Hour: 8:00 a.m.
Closing Hour: 3:00 p.m.
Extended After School Care Closing Hour:
6:30 p.m.
High School:
Opening Hour: 7:30 a.m.
Closing Hour : 2:30 p.m.
After School Enhancement Closing Hour: 6:00 p.m.
These hours may be readjusted once we open the school to better optimize the school
traffic circulation.
The special events, such as back to the school night, graduation, school dance,
staff/parents/students picnic, parent's dinner & dance, and any athletic events will be
handled in the following manner:
Back to the school night: Groups of grade levels will be stagger between different
evenings to avoid any parking lot overflows. For example, for the last three years, we
have been having, grades K-3 one night, grades 4 & 5 another night and grades 6,7 & 8
on a different night. This has been working very well with zero problems for the last
three years.
Graduation: Elementary, middle school and high school graduation dates are done in
three different dates. Since at maximum, our Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten and
grades 1 through 4 will have a total populations of 450, Middle school population
(grades 5,6,7 &8) is 350 and high school population ( grades 9,10,11 & 12) is 150, then
the expected number of students graduating from elementary school, middle school and
high school will not exceed the following numbers respectively: 75 elementary
graduating students, 90 middle school graduating students and 40 high school graduating
students respectively. The limited number of faculty members will also be invited the
graduations. Our 149 parking space will be mom than sufficient even if the expected total
number of graduating students exceeds the projected numbers by 15%. However if them
is a need, car pooling and bussing will be provided.
School Dance: Middle school grades and high school grade level dances will be held at
different nights. If necessary, the school busses will be utilized for transporting students.
Staff/Parents/Students Annual Meeting: This will be held at the Emerald Glenn Park
in Dublin as we have been doing it very successfully for the last three years.
Parents/Staff Annual Dinner & Dance: This will be done at the places other than the
school campus. We held this annual event in San Ramon Country club in the past years.
School Annual Musical Shows: We have been holding this event at the Amador high
school theater in Pleasanton. We plan to carry it out at the same place.
Athletic Events: Athletic events will be limited to smaller groups and no large events
will be held on campus. Larger events will be carried outside of the school campus.

Dr. Sabri Ara~
