HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 51-18 Authorizing the Purchase of Two Police Vehicles from My Jeep-Chrysler-Dodge-Ram and Emergency Equipment from Lehr Auto RESOLUTION NO. 51 — 18 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO POLICE VEHICLES FROM MY JEEP-CHRYSLER-DODGE-RAM AND EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT FROM LEHR AUTO WHEREAS, the City currently has 20 marked police vehicles in the fleet; and WHEREAS, Dublin Police has not added any marked police vehicles since expanding the patrol unit by three sworn members in the last year and an anticipated two more sworn staff members in Fiscal Year 2017-18; and WHEREAS, adequate funding exists in the General Fund for the purchase of two vehicles including emergency equipment and installation costs; and WHEREAS, Section 2.36.100(B)(10) of the Dublin Municipal Code allows for exceptions to the typical public bidding process when the City Council specifically waives the competitive bid process and authorizes staff to negotiate the purchase of vehicles by a four-fifths vote; and WHEREAS, Staff has obtained competitive pricing from three Dodge dealers for comparably equipped vehicles and is recommended that the City Council authorize the purchase of two 2018 Dodge Charger Police Sedans from My Jeep-Chrysler-Dodge-Ram at a total cost of $53,271.34 as allowed under Chapter 2.36 of the Dublin Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, Staff has obtained a quote from a sole source, Lehr Auto (adopted by Resolution 20-18), to purchase and install emergency equipment into the new vehicles at a cost of$29,441.46. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin hereby authorizes the purchase of two 2018 Dodge Charger Police Sedans from My Jeep-Chrysler-Dodge- Ram, and emergency equipment for said vehicles from Lehr Auto.
