HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.1 YAC Annual Report Presentation Page 1 of 2 STAFF REPORT YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE DATE: March 28, 2018 TO: Honorable Chair and Commissioners FROM: Lisa McPherson, Recreation Manager SUBJECT: Youth Advisory Committee Annual Report Presentation Prepared by: Lisa McPherson, Recreation Manager EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Youth Advisory Committee will discuss its accomplishments during the 2017 -2018 term, in preparation for the Annual Report to the City Council and the Parks and Community Services Commission. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Discuss accomplishments that should be included in the 2017-2018 Annual Report. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. DESCRIPTION: Each year, Youth Advisory Committee Members present an Annual Report highlighting the Youth Advisory Committee’s accomplishments during the current term. These accomplishments include volunteering at City events, receiving Youth Mini Grant awards, engaging in fundraising efforts for the Youth Fee Assistance Program, participating in the Tri-Valley Teen Job and Career Fair, and completing other projects that involved the Advisory Committee. The Annual Report will be presented at the May meetings of the Parks and Community Services Commission and the City Council. The Youth Advisory Committee’s 2017-2018 term accomplishments include the following: · Assisted Staff with the City's Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Civic Center on Thursday, November 30, 2017. · Awarded a total of six youth organizations from Dublin Unified School District and Quarry Lane with Youth Advisory Committee Youth Mini Grants , totaling $1,600 (Dublin High Teens Unite For Education, Dublin High Plushies Aimed to Comfort 7.1 Packet Pg. 6 Page 2 of 2 Hearts (P.A.T.C.H) Club, Dublin High Key Club, Dublin High One Globe Club, Dublin High Future Business Club and Quarry Lane’s Environmental Club) . · Attended the Tri-Valley Youth Advisory Committee Roundtable at the Danville Community Center on Saturday, January 27, 2018. · Assisted with the 2018 Tri-Valley Teen Job and Career Fair at the Pleasanton Senior Center on Saturday, March 3, 2018. · Raised funds for the Youth Fee Assistance Program during the St. Patrick’s Day Festival on Saturday and Sunday, March 17-18, 2018. · Will assist Staff with the Spring Eggstravaganza event set -up, egg hunt, Peter Rabbit or Flopsy, costumes and event clean-up at Emerald Glen Park to be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018. · Will partner with the Senior Center Advisory Committee to host a multi - generational Benefit Concert at the Emerald Glen Amphitheatre, to be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018. The Annual Report will be presented by Chair Christopher Liu and Vice Chair Alex Tran at the May 14, 2018 Parks and Community Services Commission Meeting and at the May 15, 2018 City Council Meeting.
