Acceptance of Work - CIP Project No. PK0105, Emerald Glen Recreation
& Aquatic Center Fiber Optics Connection

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will consider acceptance of the fiber optic connection improvements for
the Emerald Glen Recreation and Aquatic Center, CIP No. PK0105 . The project
provided the installation of a fiber optic connection to The Wave at Emerald Glen Park.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the Resolution Accepting the Emerald Glen Recreation and Aquatic Center Fiber
Optic Connection (CIP No. PK0105).
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Emerald Glen Recreation and Aquatic Center Fiber Optic Connection, Project No.
PK0105, had an improvement budget of $150,000, funded by the Information
Technology (IT) Fund. The project is now complete with $67,186.63 spent on
improvements. The remaining project budget will be returned to the IT Fund.
DESCRIPTION:
On January 9, 2018, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Bockmon &
Woody Co. in the amount of $106,551, for Emerald Glen Recreation and Aquatic Center
Fiber Optic Connection (CIP No. PK0105). The scope of work included the installation
of fiber optic cable and related improvements to provide a high -speed data connection
from the City’s fiber optic network to The Wave at Emerald Glen Park.
One deductive change order was issued on the project in the total amount of -
$39,364.37. The deductive change order included the deletion of 10 pull boxes
resulting in a credit to the contract.
Staff has determined that the project is complete and recommends that the City Counci l

accept the project and begin the warranty period.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

ACCEPTING THE EMERALD GLEN RECREATION AND AQUATIC CENTER FIBER
OPTIC CONNECTION (CIP NO. PK0105)
WHEREAS, on January 9, 2018, the City of Dublin entered into a contract with
Bockmon & Woody Co. to install a fiber optic connection at Emerald Glen Recreation &
Aquatic Center, CIP No. PK0105; and
WHEREAS, said improvements have been completed in accordance with plans
and specifications, and any approved modifications thereof, to the sat isfaction of the
City Engineer of the City of Dublin; and
WHEREAS, as a condition of the contract, Bockmon & Woody Co. is required to
warranty the improvements for a period of one year following acceptance of the work by
the City of Dublin and maintain a maintenance bond in the amount of 10% of the final
contract value.; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Dublin does hereby accept the improvements, Emerald Glen Recreation & Aquatic
Center Fiber Optic Connection (CIP No. PK0105) and authorize Staff to file a Notice of
Completion with Alameda County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does
hereby authorize the City Manager or his designee to release the retention, if after 35
days of filing the Notice of Completion there are no subcontractor claims.
