Approve re-naming the Valley Community Swim Center to the Dublin Swim Center. Authorize staff to proceed with ordering park signs for the Swim Center, the Dublin Sports Grounds and Mape Park. FINANCIAL STATEMENT : $12,000 is Available in FY88-89 to Re-sign Facilities DESCRIPTION : On July 1, 1988 the transfer of park, recreational and aquatic facilities from the Dublin San Ramon Services District to the Cities of Dublin and San Ramon was completed. The facilities that are now under the jurisdiction of the City of Dublin are as follows: Dublin Sports Grounds Mape Park Shannon Community Center and Park Valley Community Swim Center Prior to the transfer the Dublin San Ramon Services District removed the park signs from the facilities. Consequently the City needs to have new park signs made and installed. $12,000 was included in the 1988-89 Capital Improvement Program to re-sign the facilities. Before staff proceeded with ordering new signs for the aforementioned facilities, input was sought from the Citys Park and Recreation Commission as to whether any of the facilities should be re-named. It was the consensus of the Commission at their July 12, 1988 meeting that the Valley Community Swim Center be re-named to the Dublin Swim Center. However they felt that the Dublin Sports Grounds, Mape Park and Shannon Park and Center should remain the same. Additionally the Commission agreed with staffs recommendation to delay installing a new sign at the entrance to Shannon Park until the park is renovated in FY89-90. Therefore it is recommended that the City Council take the following action: Approve re-naming the Valley Community Swim Center to the Dublin Swim Center. Authorize staff to proceed with ordering park signs for the Swim Center, the Dublin Sports Grounds and Mape Park. Copies to:
