Foss, City Manager SUBJECT: City of Dublin Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program Funding Recommendation Prepared by: Lisa McPherson, Recreation Manager EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City Council will consider the Youth Advisory Committee funding recommendations for the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the Resolution Approving Funding Recommendation for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for the Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant program is supported by the General Fund. This year's amount of $1,600 was included in the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Budget. DESCRIPTION: Each year, the Youth Advisory Committee offers the Mini Grant program for Dublin- based youth organizations/clubs to apply for grant funding. On Monday, October 1, 2018, Staff distributed the Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant applications to Dublin High School, Wells Middle School, Fallon Middle School, and Cottonwood School, as well as St. Raymond's, Valley Christian, and Quarry Lane schools. Staff also emailed the Advisory Committee Members the Mini Grant applications for them to distribute. Dublin-based youth organizations/clubs interested in applying for the Mini Grant had to submit their online completed application before the deadline of 5:00 PM on Friday, October 26, 2018. On November 14, 2018, the Committee reviewed and rated fourteen (14) Mini Grants submitted applications. Seven (7) out of the fourteen (14) organizations/clubs that qualified were invited to attend the December 5, 2018 Special Youth Advisory Committee meeting to provide a five-minute presentation in support of their funding Page 1 of 2 requests. The Advisory Committee reviewed the seven (7) presentations, deliberated and recommended grant funding for City Council approval. XX - 18 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN * * * * * * * * * * * APPROVING FUNDING RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2018-19 YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINI GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City received 14 applications for the Fiscal Year 2018-19 Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program; and WHEREAS, funding sources for the Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program is the City of Dublin General Fund; and WHEREAS, the total amount of funding requested exceeds funding availability; and WHEREAS, on December 5, 2018, the Youth Advisory Committee recommended seven youth organizations/clubs to receive grant funding through the Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the Youth Advisory Committee has provided the City Council with funding recommendations for the Fiscal Year 2018-19 Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the action taken by this Resolution shall approve the funding recommendations.
