CITY CLERK File # D[Z][3j[QJ-[Z/~ AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: March 17, 1998 SUBJECT: Acceptance of Gift to City Prepared by: Diane Lowart" Parks & Community Services Director EXHIBITS ATfACHED: RECOMMENDATION: ¡ {j&. (1 Budget Change Form 1. Accept Gift 2. Direct Staff to Prepare Formal Acknowledgment to the Donor 3. Approve Budget Change Form FINANCIAL STATEMENT: See Discussion Below DESCRIPTION: Robert Enea has been in contact with City Staff to ascertain whether the City would be interested in having the 21' gazebo currently located at Enea Plaza. Apparently the gazebo is in the path of the new hookramp access from 1-680 into Downtown Dublin which will be constructed as part of the 1-580/I-680 Direct Connector Project. Mr. Enea has offered the gazebo to the City at no cost provided that the City absorb the cost of disassembling and moving the gazebo. Staff believes that the gazebo would be a positive addition to Shannon Park. The Shannon Park Community Center is used for wedding receptions and, on occasion, wedding ceremonies are held in the park. Staff would recommend that the gazebo be located on the grassy area outside of the West Room. This is the area in the park where most outdoor weddings are held and the gazebo could be an additional draw for wedding ceremonies. The preliminary estimate to disassemble the gazebo at the Enea Plaza and reassemble it in Shannon Park, including a new foundation and replacement of damaged boards, is $4,800. Staff would recommend that funds for the project be transferred from the Shannon Center Wallpaper and Painting Project which has an approximate balance of$5,300 due to the fact that bids were less than the budget. Per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all gifts and contributions be formally accepted by the City Council. Therefore it is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council accept the gift of the gazebo and direct Staff to prepare a formal acknowledgment to Robert Enea. Further, Staff would recommend that the City Council approve the budget change form transferring $4,800 from the Shannon Center Wallpaper and Painting Project to the Park Maintenance Budget. ------------------------------------------------------------------- COPIES TO: Robert Enea ITEM NO. 8., G: \Gifts\317 gzbo. doc CITY OF DUBLIN BUDGET CHANGE FORM CHANGE FORM # New Appropriations (City Council Approval Required): Budget Transfers: From New Revenues From Budgeted Contingent Reserve (1080-799.000) Within Same Department Activity ~_ Between Departments (City Council Approval From Unappropriated Reserves Other jltW»~~1¡ttltö=-flr~@ftjllj;møt1mnj:j@::tl'Jttt~~_Q.:34¢Ø-~{t:tI'::{'ttIAMöt1Njtf'I1t1¡ Required) ............................,....-......,...................................,..'.......-.....................................-.............................................. ....... ..............-......................................-...........................,..........................................................................................-.............................. ...... ....... ...................... .. ................ As this was not a budgeted expenditure, and given that excess funds are available in the Shannon paint/Wallpaper Project Budget, a budget transfer to the Park Maintenance Budget is needed.
