Presentation on One City, One Book Initiative

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will receive a presentation from Catherine Brown, a teacher at
Frederiksen Elementary regarding the One City, One Book Initiative.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive the presentation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact associated with the One City, One Book Initiative.
DESCRIPTION:
The City Council will receive a presentation from Catherine Brown, a teacher at
Frederiksen Elementary regarding the One City, One Book Initiative.

The goal of One City One Book is to bring our community
together over a fun shared reading experience and to educate
our community on the importance of reading aloud.

“The Ask”•Purchase a picture book that you love.
•Write a note inside the book about why
you chose it.
•Sign up for a city park of your choosing and then hide it in
your park.
•Families find and read the book. When they are done they
sign the inside and re-hide the book in the same park for
others to find.
•At the end of March all books are donated to the Dublin
Library.5
