The grant application process was discussed and I informed the board members that a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program, had been awarded to the City of Dublin in the amount of $20,195. I advised the board members that the grant provided funds which could be used in a variety of activities ranging from additional equipment, Crime Prevention Programs, and increasing personnel. I told the board' that the money from an additional grant was partly funding an additional "Deputy Sheriff" position. I told the board Dublin Police Services was recommending that the two grants be combined to fund the Deputy Sheriff position and the City of Dublin would pay any residual amount. I recommended to the board that the additional position would staff our "Crime Trends" position. After discussing the different options, the Board unanimously voted to support the recommendation that the grant funding be applied toward the cost of the Crime Trends Officer position.
