Improvements FY2001-2002 Low Bid $ 63,200 $1,678,089 $1,065,755.54 TOTAL: $1,741,289 The project is funded through TEA-21 Federal funds ($439,000), State Transportation Congestion Relief Fund ($294,470), Gas Tax ($577,559), Measure B ($391,260) and General Funds ($39,000). FY 2001-2002 budget includes fimds to perform the delayed 2000-2001 and the planned 2001-2002 annual overlay projects. Upon completion of this contract, the remaining budget will be used to fund the 2001-2002 annual project in late Spring 2002. DESCRIPTION: On June 5, 2001, the City Council authorized Staffto solicit bids for Contract No. 01-09, 2000-2001 Annual Street Overlay Project. The Annual Street Overlay project consists of removing and replacing failed asphalt concrete pavement to a minimum depth of 4-inches, resurfacing the street with a 1-1/2-inch overlay of asphalt concrete and re- striping pavement markings. Reinforcing fabric will be used prior to the overlay in order to prevent cracks from reflecting through the new overlay. In past years, pavement repair for slurry seal streets was included in the Overlay contract; however, this year's Overlay project has been postponed due to a delay in funding, and the slurry seal street repair was included in last year's Annual Slurry Seal project. The project will also include median landscaping improvements on Dougherty Road between Sierra Lane and Dublin Boulevard. The 2000-2001 Annual Street Overlay project proposes to repair and overlay the following streets: Alto Way Amanda Street Bonfield Court Canterbury Court Cardiff Court Cardigan Court Catalan Court Dublin Green Court Dublin Green Drive Elgin Lane Jasmine Court Knollwood Place Larkdale Avenue Mayan Court Dougherty Road (800' North of Houston Place to Dublin Blvd.) Prow Way Sheffield Court Sheffield Lane Solana Drive Spencer Court Thames Court York Court San Ramon Road (Dublin Blvd. to Amador Valley Blvd., northbound lanes only) Village Parkway (Amador Valley Blvd. to Davona Drive) Staff has reviewed the bids and recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract No. 01-09, 2000-2001 Annual Street Overlay Project to McGuire and Hester. Page 2 RESOLUTION NO. - 01 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 01-09 2000-2001 ANNUAL OVERLAY PROJECT TO McGUIRE & HESTER WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on August 14, 2001, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract No. 01-09, 2000-2001 Annual Overlay Project, authorized by the City Council on June 5, 2001, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract No. 01-09 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, McGuire & Hester, at a bid of One Million Sixty Five Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Five Dollars and Fifty Four Cents ($1,065,755.54), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
