A Special Meeting of the Dublin Parks & Community Services Commission was held on
Monday, February 25, 2019, in the Council Chamber. The meeting was called to order
at 7:00 PM, by Commissioner Matthew Giller.

7.1. Election of Officers
La Shawn Butler, Parks and Community Services Director, presented the
specifics of the item as outlined in the Staff Report.
Cm. Giller opened the floor to nominations for Chairperson.
ACTION:
On a motion by Cm. Hakim, seconded by Cm. Washington, with Cm. Smith
McDonald absent, and by a vote of 5-0-0, the Commission voted to elect Cm.
Smith McDonald as Chairperson of the Parks and Community Services
Commission for 2019.
Cm. Giller opened the floor to nominations for Vice Chairperson.
ACTION:
On a motion by Cm. Washington, seconded by Cm. Hakim, with Cm. Smith
McDonald absent, and by a vote of 5-0-0, the Commission voted to elect Cm.

Giller as Vice Chairperson of the Parks and Community Services Commission for
2019.
7.2. Committee Assignments
Ms. Butler introduced Tegan McLane, Cultural Arts and Heritage Manager, to
present the item.
Ms. McLane presented the specifics of the item as outlined in the Staff Report.
The Commissioners discussed primary and alternate representatives for Public
Art Selection Committees for each of the following projects: Jordan Ranch Park,
Clover Park, Sean Diamond Park, Dougherty Hill Dog Park, and Tassajara Park.
ACTION:
On a motion by Cm. Hakim, seconded by Cm. Speck, with Cm. Smith McDonald
absent, and by a vote of 5-0-0, the Commission voted to select the following
Commissioners as primary and alternate representatives for the following Public
Art Committees:
Jordan Ranch Park
Selected Cm. Speck as the primary member and Cm. Washington as the
alternate member for Jordan Ranch Park.
Clover Park
Selected Cm. Hakim as the primary member and Cm. Speck as the alternate
member for Clover Park.
Sean Diamond Park
Selected Cm. Smith McDonald as the primary member and Cm. Giller as the
alternate member for Sean Diamond Park.
Dougherty Hills Dog Park
Selected Cm. Giller as the primary member and Cm. Hakim as the alternate
member for Dougherty Hills Dog Park.
Tassajara Park
Selected Cm. Washington as the primary member and Cm. Smith McDonald as
the alternate member for Tassajara Park.
8. Other Business
Commissioners provided informational reports on recent events and meetings attended.
Ms. Butler announced that a consultant has been chosen to assist with the Parks and
Recreation Master Plan. The consultant would like to schedule meetings with

stakeholders starting on April 9 through April 11. The Parks and Community Services
Commissioners will be contacted to schedule a meeting time.
