A Regular Meeting of the Dublin Heritage & Cultural Arts Commission was held on
Thursday, November 14, 2019, in the Heritage & Cultural Arts Commission Council
Chamber. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM., by Vice Chairperson Steve
Minnear,

Vanessa Thomas of the Dublin Art Collective shared information on her recent
visit to the Livermore Cultural Arts Council meeting and shared information
regarding the upcoming TedX 2021 and The Pleasanton Arts League meeting.

6.1. Temporary Art Display Program
Shaun Chilkotowsky, Heritage & Cultural Arts Manager introduced himself and
presented the specifics of the item as listed on the Staff Report.
Cm. Minniear opened the floor for questions.
The Commissioners asked Staff clarifying questions on current submissions for
the temporary art display program, guidelines that qualify an individual as an art
professional, guidelines for a commissioner wishing to make a submission, and
how the monies from the art auction would be used.
Staff responded to the questions of the Commission. Director Butler responded
that proceeds from the art auction would go into the City's Public Art Fund.
Cm. Minniear opened the floor for public comment.
Vanessa Thomas of the Dublin Art Collective commented that the Art Collective
is supportive of the program.
Cm. Minniear closed the floor for public comment and then opened the floor for
discussion.
The Commission discussed possible alternative catch phrases for the temporary
art display program. Two members of the public stated they preferred the catch
phrase "A Chair to Remember". The Commission commented that the catch

phrase "A Chair to Remember" was preferred for the temporary art display
program.
ACTION:
The Commission received the report.

8. Other Business
Staff provided brief informational reports about the upcoming construction of a
Cultural Arts Center to be located at the Civic Center where the current Police
and Public Safety offices are located.
9. Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by Cm. Minniear at
7:50 p.m.
