DESCRIPTION:
The Tri-Valley Cities, including Danville, Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, and San Ramon,
undertake an annual process to develop a federal legislative agenda for consideration by
members of the congressional delegation in January of each year. Once the agenda has been
finalized, the Tri-Valley Mayors travel to Washington D.C. to meet with members of the
delegation to discuss legislative priorities for the. region; these meetings take place prior to the
U.S. Conference of Mayors. This year, congressional leaders have requested a resolution in
support of the jointly identified federal priorities from the participating cities.
This year's identified priorities include: Interstate 580 improvements; Interstate~ 680
improvements; State Route 84 widening and improvements, and the East Bay Regional
Communications System completion. The regional approach to developing a legislative agenda
is considered very effective as collective support from local, county, state, and regional officials
on a project creates greater chances of success in this competitive environment. Once the Tri-
Valley Mayors cornplete their visits with members of the congressional delegation additional
advocacy efforts will continue to be coordinated through a contracted lobbying firm and Staff
from the Tri-Valley Cities to ensure the identified priorities remain highly visible with federal
lawmakers.
