EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Staff was notified that the City of Dublin was granted a scholarship in the amount of $350 to
cover registration costs to attend the Water Smart Innovations Conference in Las Vegas,
Nevada on October 5-6, 2011. As this conference is out of state, Staff is requesting City
Council authorization to attend the conference on water efficiency.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Sufficient funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2011-12 budget to cover travel expenses.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize Staff to attend out of state conference.

DESCRIPTION:
On September 9, 2011, Staff was notified that the City was granted a scholarship in the amount
of $350 to cover registration costs to attend the Water Smart Innovations Conference in Las
Vegas, Nevada from October 5-6, 2011. The conference is sponsored by many non-profit and
government agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Water Sense
Program, California Urban Water Conservation Council, Irrigation Association, the Audubon
Society as well as industry leaders including Toro, Hunter and Ewing among others. The
conference provides educational opportunities in water efficiency programs for landscapes,
construction and development and facility plumbing. By attending the conference, Staff intends
to gain knowledge to facilitate irrigation related efficiencies within existing parks and with newly
built projects. Since the conference is in Nevada, Staff requests City Council authorization to
attend.
