CIP#969102) Prepared by Steven Yee, Public Works Manager EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: A contract was awarded by the City Council on June 7, 2011 to MCK Services, Inc. for the Annual Street Overlay Program (CIP No. 969102) which resurfaced various streets including the reconstruction of the existing pavement on Dublin Boulevard between Civic Plaza and Dublin Court. The Public Works Department has determined that the work under this contract is now complete and ready for acceptance. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The total amount authorized by the City Council for the contract, including contingencies, was $1,117,360. As summarized below, the improvements were completed for less than that amount as the full contingency was not required. The City received additional Traffic Congestion Relief Funds of $650 which were expended. This reduced the expenditure of Measure B Funds. Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO. 4.3 RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council accept the improvements under Contract No. 11-07, 2010-2011 Annual Street Overlay Program, with MCK Services, Inc., and authorize the release of retention after 35 days if there are no subcontractor claims. ~. ~.~ ~...ti _..~~.~. Submitted By Director of Public Works ~, Reviewed By Assistant City Manager DESCRIPTION: The Annual Street Overlay project consisted of removing and replacing failed asphalt concrete (AC) pavement to a minimum depth of 4 inches on residential streets and 6 inches on collector/arterial streets, resurfaced the street with a minimum 1-1/2-inch overlay of AC, and re- striped pavement markings. The 2010-2011 Annual Street Overlay Program repaired and overlaid the following streets, as shown on the Location Map (Attachment 1): Brighton Drive (Wexford Court to Tamarack Drive) Scarlett Court Thames Court Gunshot Court Kingston Place Betlen Drive (Hansen Drive to east end) York Drive Penn Drive Castle Drive The funding for the work on these streets was $354,485 in local Alameda County Transportation funds and $451,800 in State Congestion Relief Funds. In addition to the above streets, Dublin Boulevard existing pavement from Civic Plaza to Dublin Court was reconstructed as part of this Contract. The funding for this work ($261,098) is provided by the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency Transportation Improvement Program (CMA-TIP). Staff has inspected the work completed under this Contract and recommends that the City Council accept the improvements. NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH: None. ATTACHMENTS: 1.
