PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Dublin will celebrate Housing Opportunities Week from May 12 - 16,2008. Housing Opportunities
Week is a celebration and awareness campaign of the accomplishments of the City of Dublin Housing
Opportunities Programs. Dublin's Housing Opportunities Week is concurrent with East Bay Housing
Organizations, a Bay Area event that highlights the accomplishments communities have made for building
healthy sustainable communities.
At the May 6, 2008 City Council meeting, Mayor Lockhart will present Ms. Jacki Rickman, Executive
Director of the Tri- Valley Housing Opportunity Center, with the City's Housing Opportunities Week
Proclamation. During the week of May 12,2008, the Housing Division will promote Dublin's Housing
Opportunities Programs at City Hall.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council: 1) Receive Staff presentation; 2) Provide comments; and 3)
Proclaim May 12 - 16, 2008 as Housing Opportunities Week.

lJ\TflEREAS/ housing that is decent and safe is one of the basic necessities of life and is (1' Dital importance to the health and well being of all
residents of the City of DlIblill, and
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin has been succe.,,;s/1I1 in developing active and innovative housing programs by participating in the development of
over 1,000 BelO'lI' Aiarket l\ate Units, both rentals and ownership housing, and
WHEREAS/ homeownership is the housing choice of many Americans which is why the Dublin City Council has supported, along with the other
Tri- Valley cities, the creation of the Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center to provide educntion and assistance to interested homebuyers, and
lNHEREAS/ with the cost of purchasing a home in the City of Dublin rising beyond the Cost of Living for the area, homeownership remains one
of the primary goals for the Dublin City Council, and
WHEREAS/ the Dublin City Council supports the ability of residents and residents' children to purchase and remain in the City of Dublin, and
WHEREAS/ the City of Dublin First Time Homebuyer Loan Program provides financial assistance to residents, residents' children and new
families moving to Dublin in the purchase oftheir first home in Dublin, and
tVHEREAS/ the First Time Ffomebuyer Loan Program will augment the City's existillg housing programs to further improve the quality and
variety of housing programs offered by the City of Dublin, and
WHEREAS/ the Dublin City Council, as evidenced by the variety and quality of the City's Housing Programs, has a strong commitment to
planning for housing for everyone in the community.
NOW/ l1IEREFORE/ BE IT RESOLVED that I, Janet Lockhart, Mayor of Dublin, on behalF of the elltire City Council, hereby proclaim the
week of/viay 12 -- 16, 2008 as IIHo/lsing Opportmtities Weekll in the City of Dublin, participating in actil'ities held throughout the week to
commemorate this obserl'ance.
