DESCRIPTION: The Dublin Senior Foundation is anon-profit organization that was
formed in 1997. The purpose of the Foundation is to promote the growth and development of the Dublin
Senior Center; to provide seniors with the opportunity to participate in community services; to provide
developmental funds for Senior Center events; and, to support programs that meet the unmet needs of area
seniors. The means by which the Foundation raises funds includes sponsoring fundraising events,
securing grants, providing workers for community events, operating a fireworks booth, and receiving
private donations and memorial gifts.
During Fiscal Year 2007-2008 the Foundation contributed 100% of the funding to purchase some new
furnishings and equipment for the Senior Center. -Three additional wooden benches were purchased for
the pre-function area outside of the Ballroom to provide additional seating for those waiting for classes or
events. Additionally an art hanging system was installed in the pre-function area to provide gallery space
to feature artwork created by students in classes at the Senior Center and local artists. The Foundation
also generously donated funds to install two park benches under the overhang at the main entrance to the
facility. These benches provide a shaded place for patrons to wait for transportation when needed. The
last piece of equipment that was purchased with the Foundation funds was a bike rack for the front patio.
With some- patrons riding their bikes to the facility, the bike rack provides a safe place to store their bikes
while taking part in programs.
