SUBJECT: Youth Advisory Planning Board Appointments to the Tri-Valley
Adolescent Health Initiative

FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION:
This will mark the third year of the Youth Planning Board, which supports the goal of providing input to
the Tri-Valley Adolescent Health Initiative Committee. The Youth Planning Board will be responsible for
engaging other youth in the Tri-Valley area in the planning process on adolescent health and wellness
services for the Tri-Valley region. The Cities of Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore are allocated five (5)
Youth Planning Board appointments. There are currently three vacancies for the City of Dublin because
of graduations and resignations by the youth members, and the remaining two City of Dublin Youth
Advisory members are requesting they be re-appointed for this coming term. There was a collaborative
process for recruitment developed by the Youth Planning Board and the results were a total of six (6)
applicants which is the highest number in any of the recruitments to-date for the City of Dublin
appointments to the Tri- Valley Adolescent Health Initiative Youth Advisory Board.
The City of Dublin's selection criteria for consideration to the Youth Planning Board is as follows:
Applicants must be Dublin residents.
Term of office would commence in July 2007 and terminate in June 2008 with an opportunity
for re-appointment in June 2008.
The deadline to submit applications was Friday, June 1,2007, and at the close there were a total of six (6)
applications. All applicants were invited to interview with Mayor Lockhart and the two remaining Youth
Board members along with the Planning Consultant for the Tri- Valley Adolescent Health Initiative.

RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council confirm the Mayor's
appointments to the Youth Planning Board for the Tri-Valley Adolescent Health Initiative for the term of
July 2007 through June 2008.
