DESCRIPTION: In Nove~ber 2006, the Dublin Heritage Center and Michael Lynch
collaborated on a new photographic history book on Dublin. Mr. Lynch devoted countless volunteer
hours to compile photographs and research information. He frequented the Dublin Heritage Center to
research the archives and in researching his own family history, became an authority on Dublin's history.
Michael Lynch is the great grandson of Michael and Mary Devany, one of Dublin's pioneer families who
had left Roscommon Ireland, came to America, and took the wagon train to California. The Devanys
established their farm in Dublin in 1858, had six children, and became well-known citizens of the
community.
In February 2007, Arcadia Books, a leading publisher of local and regional history books throughout the
United States, began production of "Images of America - Dublin". The goal was to have the book
available for the Day on the Glen Festival on September 16 and 17, to mark the 25th Anniversary
Celebration of Dublin's Cityhood. The Dublin book was actually completed and released in July, well in
time to meet that goal.
The book includes over 200 vintage images with captions which highlight the earliest families that created
a community that has thrived for more than 150 years. Readers also will learn how Dublin has grown
from a farming town to the modem city it is today. "Images of America - Dublin" is available at area
bookstores such as Barnes and Nobel and Borders, as well as independent retailers, online retailers, and
through Arcadia Publishing. The book will also be for sale at the Dublin Heritage Center and at the Day
on the Glen Festival.
