A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF DUBLIN
CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, public safety is a top priority in Dublin, California, and
WHEREAS, safety from natural and manmade disasters are important both to citizens and local
firefighters; and
WHEREAS, residents of Dublin must take action to protect themselves from the effects of natural and
manmade disasters; and
WHEREAS, awareness and simple readiness practices can help Dublin residents survive in the event of a
natural or manmade disaster; and
WHEREAS, emergency plans and emergency preparedness kits are essential for every household in
Dublin, and
WHEREAS, Dublin is joining the Governor of the State of California in teaching lifesaving measures in
conjunction with Disaster Preparedness AIonth; and
WHEREAS, the Disaster Preparedness Month theme, "Be Smart, Be Responsible, and Be Prepared" is an
important reminder for all citizens of Dublin, and
'WHEREAS, this month is commemorated across California and supported by the public safety efforts of
fire departments, the Office of Emergency Services, and other safety advocates, in co'liunction with the
Governor of the State of Californw.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Janet Lockhart, Mayor of Dublin, on behalf of the entire
City Council, do hereby proclaim May 2006 as "DISASTER PREPAREDNESS MONTH" in the City of
Dublin and urge all citizens to heed the advice to develop an emergency plan and gather the necessary
supplieS to create afamily emergency preparedness kit.
