1. Why are you interested in aerving the Parks and Community Services Commission?
I am interested in being your student representative because I know it would be a
great learning experience. I am interested in finding out more about the city I have
lived in all my life, and what I can do to help. I am also interested because I know I
have a lot to offer and would make a great contribution to the Commission.
2. What is the most ~llportant contrIbulfon you can make to the Con mission?
The most important contribution I can make to the Commission is my creativity
can't wait to voice my ideas, and I am always looking for new concepts, ideas, or
notions to learn from or support. This past year I was commissioner of fundraising for
Dublin High leadership and a participant in City of Dublin's Youth Advisory
Committee, so I know how to be a leader I take my experience and the experience
of those around me end use it to be more productive, efficient, and effective in what I
do
3. What knowledge do you have of the parks and recreational facilities In Dublin?
I have lived in Dublin my whole life, and have been involved with the parks and
recreational facilities for a good chunk of that time. My family and I live next to Alamo
Creek Park, so I have been thoroughly involved with the activities and programs of
that park including Fun in the Sun. Other parks that' have become acquainted with
include Emerald Glen for Day on the Glen and the Junior leader Program, and the
Dublin Sports GroundS for Club soccer, soccer refereeing, and a season or two of
softball. One of the recreational facilities that I am very involved with is the Dublin
Swim Center I took lessons there when I was younger and then started Green
Gators (which I have been doing ever since). I did JAWS (Junior Aquatic Water
Safety) and just last summer became a certified lifeguard and swim instructor. I also
swim at the Dublin Swim Center for my high School. Just last year I began YAC,
which gave me a perspective of my city and helped me in learning more about the
activities and programs that are offered not only for teens but for all of the citizens of
Dublin.

4. What krIQWIedge do you have of the programs olfered through the Parka and
Community Services Department? Have you ever participated In a program or clus
offered by the Park and Corrmunlty ServIces Department?
I have participated in many of the programs that this city offars. I've played club
soccer since I was six, and did youth basketball from 5111 to 8111 grade. I now work as a
scorekeeper in that vary league through Rich Jochner and I am having a blast. I took
lessons at the Dublin Swim Canter, and then joinEld the Green Gators Swim Team. I
took classes to learn about becoming a soccer referee and CPR certification and
Iifeguarding classes through Vivian Lau and the city I am now about to start my
second summer as a certified lifeguard at the Dublin Swim Center, which I am very
excited about!
5. What school and/or extra cun1cular activities are you involved in?
This past year I began my first year in DHS leadership and YAC I participated in
Varsity Soccer and Swimming. I also participated in club soccer, and summer league
swim team (Green Gators). I am a member of the LEO Club, the Animal Club,
Interact, and CSF (which I have earned 4 semesters in). During the summer I work at
the Dublin Swim Center, and during the school year I am a gym attendant at Stager
Gym and scorekeep youth and adult basketball. Next week, I start training on
scorekaeping for adult softball as well. I am also a member of my church's youth
leadership group at 51. Raymond's Catholic Church.

1 1 heard about this commission during morning announcements at my school,
which is Valley Christian High School. When I heard the announcement I was
intrigued by the fact it was for Parks and Community Services. A friend of mine
works there and I decided to look in to the job. When I asked my friend about the
commission he told me that he once served on the commission himself. 1 have
helped serve the community through the Boy Scouts and I saw this as an
opportunity to do more.
2. I believe 1 can help coordinate my school and the Boy Scouts with this
commission. And I always will always do what I think is right for the community
3 The parks in Dublin are beautiful and have been taken care off. The community
buildings are in relatively good condition. But I think we can find ways to
improve them yet.
4 I have no knowledge of any programs that the Services provide nor have 1 ever
participated in any class. But I am eager to learn.
5 1 am a Patrol Leader in Boy Scout Troop 905 Dublin, and am a member of the
school Golf Team. I also play the piano and take the California Music Association
Test every year
Even though I don't live in Dublin it is where my school is and where my friends are. My
life is in the city ofOublin and I would like to serve it through this commission.

Parks and Community Services
student Representative Application
1. I am interested in serving on the Parks and Community Services Commission for
many reasons. I truly care about Dublin and want to be able to watch it grow and
continue to prosper I think being a part of the community is very important. The Parks
and Community Services are very essential to Dublin because they help bring people
together and create a friendly atmosphere. I remember being a kid and playing at in the
parks and how much fun I would have, and still do have. I am very interested in the
Commission because of what it does and how important it is to our community. I love to
get involved and help make the community a better place. I also feel it would be a great
learning experience.
2. I think I have a lot to contribute to the Commission. First off, I have been Vice-
Chairperson of the Youth Advisory Committee for the past two years, so I have a lot of
knowledge and experience with Dublin's Parks and Community Services. I am very
involved in school and the community and I think I have a lot of input and ideas to keep
Dublin the superb community It is today. I have always cared about Dublin and am
willing to do what it takes to help within the Commission. I can represent the youth and
city, and feel I have a lot of good and well thought out ideas. I am a hard worker and a
good listener, so I also will get a lot of input from others in the community to bring back
to the Commission.
3. I was born and raised in Dublin my whole entire life. I love the community and small
town atmosphere it has. That atmosphere is largely due to the parks and recreational
facilities the city has to offer. I live right around the block from Shannon Park and stili go
their often. The unique thing about our city's parks is each one has something different
to offer I love going to Dolan Park to play basketball, or playing tennis at Kolb Park, or
playing beach volleyball at Mape's Park. I am an avid swimmer and learned to swim at
the Dublin Swim Center. I also have played sports at the Sports Grounds or at Emerald
Glen. The artwork placed in the parks is very innovative and exciting. I know how much
time and upkeep it takes to maintain the city's facilities and feel that it is time well
spent. I also am very interested in the development of future parks and facilities such as
the rebuilding of the Shannon Community Center and the possibility of a new Recreation
and Aquatic Center.
4. I know a lot about the programs offered through the Department. Anything from the
children's classes to the Senior Citizen's activities. The city does an amazing job reaching
out to all ages and letting them chose from many interesting and fun classes. I have
participated in the Pee Wee's Sports camp and took swim lessons for many years at the
pool, I still remember my teacher! I also more recently have participated in a lot of the
Teen activities the city puts on and am on the Youth Advisory Committee. I also
attended the Puppy Training Classes with my Dad. My family has also participated in the
photography and dance classes and even the preschool at the Community Center.
S. I am very involved in the community and my school. I play soccer, baseball and
swimming. I also am joining the Dublin Green Gators this year. I do well in school and
am very active in student government at my school, and was recently elected Junior
.,
Class Treasurer and Dublin School Board Student Representative. So, I will also be able
to bring the schools' and parks' interests together. I also am involved in various clubs
and the Northern california Youth leadership Organization. As I said, I also have been
the Vice-Chair of the Youth Advisory COmmittee, which I have enjoyed tremendously, I
am also very involved with my church and the youth group. I feel all these other
activities will allow me to represent the city's youth better.
