DESCRIPTION: In April 2005, the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD), in
partnership with Dublin and Pleasanton, was awarded $50,000 by the Alameda County Transportation
Improvement Authority (ACTIA) to conduct an engineering study to determine the feasibility of
constructing a segment of trail underneath the 1-580 Freeway. This segment would connect the Alamo

contribute $25,000 each to supplement the ACTIA grant for the study.
Mr. Jim Townsend, Trails Development Program Manager of the EBRPD, will present the results of the
feasibility study to the City Council.
The EBRPD has completed the study, and a public meeting was held on August 23, 2005, at the City
Library Community Room. This meeting was attended by more than 40 people, and there was unanimous
support to construct the trail under 1-580.
Staff recommends that the City Council receive the presentation by the East Bay Regional Park District
