DESCRIPTION: At its October 7, 1997 meeting, the City Council adopted Resolution
No. 121-97 Approving the City of Dublin Public Art Policy. The Policy encourages the design of
development projects to include creative visual artwork into the public buildings and public spaces of the
community. Subsequently, at the September 5, 2006 City Council meeting, the Council adopted
Ordinance No. 14-06 Adding Chapter 8.58 and Amending Chapter 8.104.070 of the Dublin Municipal
Code (Zoning Ordinance) Relating to the Public Art Program. The Ordinance requires applicants for
certain development projects to contribute to the Public Art Program by providing a public art project on-
site, or making an in-lieu payment for public art. The Ordinance became effective on October 5, 2006 and
supersedes the original Public Art Policy. Consequently it is necessary to rescind the original Public Art
Policy adopted in 1997. Staffhas prepared a Resolution Rescinding the Public Art Policy (Attachment 1).
RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the Resolution

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

RESCINDING THE CITY OF DUBLIN PUBLIC ART POLICY
WHEREAS, at the October 7, 1997 meeting of the Dublin City Council, the Council adopted
Resolution 121-97 approving the City of Dublin Public Art Policy; and
WHEREAS, the Policy encourages the design of development project to include creative visual
artwork into the public buildings and public spaces of the community; and
WHEREAS, at the September 5, 2006 meeting of the City Council, the Council adopted
Ordinance No. 14-06 Adding Chapter 8.58 and Amending Chapter 8.104.070 of the Dublin Municipal
Code (Zoning Ordinance) Relating to the Public Art Program; and
WHEREAS, the Ordinance requires applicants for certain development projects to contribute to

WHEREAS, the Public Art Program Ordinance No. 14-06 supersedes the Public Art Policy
Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Dublin City Council does hereby
rescind Resolution 121-97 approving the City of Dublin Public Art Policy.
