The cost of striping and marking is budgeted in the Street Maintenance Operating Budget and is proposed to be paid from Gas Tax funds. The actual cost of the work is budgeted on an annual basis. This Contract would begin in Fiscal Year 2005-2006 and rWI through 2007-2008. The total cost ofthe three-year Striping and Marking Contract is estimated at $150,000 ($50,000 per year). DESCRIPTION: Since 1993, the City's Striping & Marking Contracts have been for two-year terms. In an effort to save annual bidding costs and provide continuity of work, this Striping and Marking Contract is proposed for a three-year term, with an opportunity for the contractor to negotiate rate adjustments on an annual basis. The operating budget for striping and marking includes curb painting and emergency work performed by MCE, as well as this striping contract. The quantities to be bid are based on known striping needs for Fiscal Year 2005-2006, with a. three-year extension for probable needs in Fiscal Years 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. Striping work to be accomplished under this contract includes re-installing existing striping, marking, and miscellaneous new striping as approved by the City Councilor recommended by Staff as the result of traffic studies. Work would be performed on an as-needed basis and would not exceed the budgeted amount in any single year.
