DESCRIPTION: The City Council has participated in discussions with Staff regarding
the possible benefits offorming a Geologic Hazard Abatement District (GHAD)in the City. The purpose

Given recent events where slides have occurred as the result of adverse weather conditions in various hill
areas of southern California, the City Council may wish to consider the formation of a GHAD at some
point in the future.
In order to conform with California State Law related to the future formation of a GHAD, it is necessary
for the City to declare itself subject to provisions of the Law by adopting a resolution containing said
declaration. A copy of the adopted resolution must then be forwarded to the State Controller in order to
establish the City's eligibility to form a GHAD.
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution declaring that the City of Dublin is subject to
the provisions of California Public Resources Code Division 17 relating to Geologic Hazard Abatement
Dis1ricts, and direct Staff to forward the adopted resolution to the State Con1roller.
