The Cities of Dublin, Pleasanton, and LivemlOTe have or are currently in the process of selecting Youth Planning Board members from their respective communities. Based on direction by the Dublin City Council, the selection criteria for consideration to the Youth Planning Board for the City of Dublin arc as follows: There would be three representatives from the City of Dublin that would represent the three groups- Middle School, High School, and freslunan or sophomore in College. Applicants must be Dublin residents. Term of office would commence in September 2005 and terminate in August 2006 with an opportunity for re-appointment in August 2006. The Youth Advisory Planning Board will be responsible for engaging other youth in the Tri-Valley area in the needs assessment and planning process on adolescent health and wellness services for the Tri- Valley region. The openings were advertised at the local middle and high schools, on the City's website and press releases were sent to the Tri-Valley Herald, Valley Times and CTV. He called me and told me a little about it and said he thought I would be a responsible person for the board, and wanted me to apply. 2. I am interested in serving because I think it is a good way for me to help out my community and get involved with helping less fortunate teens through their problems. I can talk to the leadership class at Dublin High School and get even more creative ideas about how we can help out. 3. Skills that I possess that would make me a strong candidate for the Youth Planning Board are being creative, organized, and willing to help. I'm a person that like to improvise in situations that don't always go as planned, so I think I could help to make anything happen. 4. This school year will be very busy with school work being that I am a senior, and want to make good grades. I will also be holding down a part time job on :he weekends and Dossible one or two nights during the week for a couple of hours. 5. For me, my school work and grades come first, however I am a person that can do my homework well and get it done in a short matter of time usually. Working will mostly be on the weekends, and should only be limited hours during the regular school week, so I could talk to my work and set times aside for the Youth Planning Board. 6.
