DESCRIPTION: The City of San Ramon is proposing to improve the 1-680/Alcosta
Boulevard Interchange and has been working with Caltrans and Dublin Staff to prepare project contract
documents. The purpose of the project is to improve the traffic operation of the interchange and provide
traffic mitigation for theDougherty Valley development. Major components of the project include the
following:
· Replace existing southbound off-ramp with a new southbound hook off-ramp located
approximately 950 feet north of the Alcosta/San Ramon Boulevard intersection.
· Construct an additional southbound on-ramp north of the Alcosta/San Ramon Boulevard
intersection.
· Widen northbound off-ramp to two lanes to provide additional storage for right-turn movements
onto eastbound Alcosta Boulevard.
· Widen northbound on-ramp to two lanes to accommodate ramp metering and an HOV bypass lane.
In order for San Ramon to obtain the necessary encroachment permit from Caltrans to build the project,
Caltrans is requiring that San Ramon get approval of the project from Dublin since the interchange is
partially located at the northern end of Dublin on the Alameda/Contra Costa County Line. Staff has
reviewed the project contract documents and found them acceptable. City of San Ramon staff will be
making a presentation to the Council to discuss the proposed project and to answer any questions the
Council may have.
Staff recommends that the City Council receive the presentation and adopt the resolution approving the
