The purpose of the project is to improve the traffic operation of the interchange and provide traffic mitigation for theDougherty Valley development. Major components of the project include the following: · Replace existing southbound off-ramp with a new southbound hook off-ramp located approximately 950 feet north of the Alcosta/San Ramon Boulevard intersection. · Construct an additional southbound on-ramp north of the Alcosta/San Ramon Boulevard intersection. · Widen northbound off-ramp to two lanes to provide additional storage for right-turn movements onto eastbound Alcosta Boulevard. · Widen northbound on-ramp to two lanes to accommodate ramp metering and an HOV bypass lane. In order for San Ramon to obtain the necessary encroachment permit from Caltrans to build the project, Caltrans is requiring that San Ramon get approval of the project from Dublin since the interchange is partially located at the northern end of Dublin on the Alameda/Contra Costa County Line. Staff has reviewed the project contract documents and found them acceptable. City of San Ramon staff will be making a presentation to the Council to discuss the proposed project and to answer any questions the Council may have. Staff recommends that the City Council receive the presentation and adopt the resolution approving the 1-680/Alcosta Boulevard Interchange Improvement project. COPIES TO: City of San Ramon ITEM NO. ~_~ g:\agenmisc\agst_680-Alcosta Interchange Project Presentation RESOLUTION NO. - 03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN APPROVAL OF THE 1-680/ALCOSTA BOULEVARD INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, the City of San Ramon is the lead agency for the 1-680/Alcosta Boulevard Interchange Improvement Project; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the project is to improve the traffic operation of the interchange and to provide traffic mitigation for the Dougherty Valley development; and WHEREAS, the City of San Ramon has been working cooperatively with Caltrans and Dublin Staff in preparing the project contract documents; and WHEREAS, the project will be fully funded by San Ramon and there is no cost to the City of Dublin; and WHEREAS, in order for San Ramon to obtain the necessary encroachment permit from Caltrans to build the project, and Caltrans is requiring that San Ramon get project approval from Dublin since the interchange is partially located at the northern end of Dublin on the Alameda/Contra Costa County Line; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Dublin, by adopting this resolution, hereby approves the 1-680/Alcosta Boulevard Interchange Improvement Project.
