DESCRIPTION: This is the second reading of a proposed ordinance which was
introduced at the October 21 st City Council meeting.
In 1988, a loading zone was established on the north side of Dublin Court, approximately 120 feet from
the Dublin Boulevard intersection. The loading zone was provided primarily for a business located in the
Dublin Station shopping center that used the area to receive shipments. The specific business moved
away a number of years ago, and the loading zone is not now being used by any tenants of the shopping
center. However, the Dublin Toyota auto dealership is using a significant amount of on-street parking for
both employees and customers, and the addition of three to four more parking spaces is desirable.
Staff spoke with Mr. Jim Lange, one of the owners of the shopping center, who agreed that removal of
the loading zone would be advantageous since some of the auto dealership traffic is now parking in the
shopping center's parking lot. It is therefore proposed to repeal the 60-foot loading zone on Dublin Court
in order to allow on-street parking in this area.
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing, deliberate, waive the reading and adopt
the ordinance repealing Ordinance 21-88, Loading Zone on Dublin Court.
