Adopt Resolution awarding Contract 01-14 to SNA Enterprises
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The constmction budget for this project is $85,380. The low bid
received is $57,000, which is within funds budgeted for this project. The complete range of bids is detailed
on Attachment 2.
DESCRIPTION: The City Council authorized Staffto solicit bids for this project at the
October 16, 2001, meeting. This project would paint the entire interior of the Civic Center, excluding the
expansion area. The scope of work for the expansion did not include the repainting of existing areas.
Walls, doors, and woodwork in hallways in the original construction areas are scratched and dirty from the
expansion construction work and moving furniture, as well as wear and tear of 12 years of occupancy. In
addition, ceiling tiles in areas which have been occupied since the building was constructed have become
discolored over the years, and this project would paint these tiles to match the new ones.
The specification provides for paint with no or very low volatile organic compounds (VOC) to reduce odor
and risk to occupants while the building is being painted. Work in actual private office areas is proposed to
be done at night or on weekends so that Staff will be disrupted as little as possible. The work schedule for
this project has been set at 60 working days, or 12 weeks, to allow for potential scheduling difficulties.
A total of 13 bids were received for this project. The apparent low bidder is SNA Enterprises with a bid of
$57,000. Staffhas reviewed the low bidder's proposal and checked with references and recommends that
the City Council adopt the resolution awarding the project to the apparent low bidder.
