RECOMMENDATION: Authorize City Manager to execute a contract extension with Delta
Dental
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Sufficient funds will be included in the City's Fiscal Year 2002-
2003 budget to cover premium costs. There are no increases in the
premiums scheduled for Fiscal Year 2002-2003.
DESCRIPTION: The City has maintained Delta Dental insurance since 1989. On July
1, 2002, the City joined ABD Insurance Services Municipality Pool and continued dental coverage
through Delta Dental. The ABD Municipality Pool provides cities with added purchasing power when
negotiating contract renewals. As part of the Municipality Pool, Dublin no longer is a single city
negotiating for cost-effective benefit coverage; Dublin became part of a 20,000 participant group pool. As
a result of this purchasing power, the Municipality Pool renewal rate for Fiscal Year 2002-2003 will
remain the same as shown below:

Recommendation
Staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a contract extension with Delta
Dental.
