SUBJECT: Selection of Fall Banner Design
Report Prepared by Paul McCreary, Parks and Community Services

ATTACHMENTS: Options for New Fall Banner Design
RECOMMENDATION: Select the preferred banner design. If Option B or D is selected,
determine if the banner should be personalized and if so, provide
direction on the preferred text.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: $11,500 is budgeted in the 2002-2007 Capital Improvement Program
for the purchase of 88 new fall banners.
DESCRIPTION: The fall seasonal banners, which were purchased 11 years ago, are
now worn and faded to the point that they need to be replaced. The fall banners are hung annually from
September through November. During the month of September banners for the Day on the Glen and
Spare the Air will augment the seasonal banners. At the end of September these banners will be replaced
with the remaining fall banners.
The attachment includes four design options for the new fall banners. Option A would be to purchase
new banners with the same design as the current fall banners. Option B features a harvest of colorful
fruits and vegetables over a blue background. Option C and D both feature colorful falling leaves. Option
D has a blue background that would blend well with the Day on the Glen and Spare the Air banners that
will also be up during September. Options B and D can both be personalized with a short message if
desired. Following the selection of the preferred design, Staff will obtain quotes for the new banners and
place the order with the lowest responsible bidder.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended the Council select the preferred banner design. If Option B or D is selected, determine
if the banner should be personalized and if so, provide direction on the preferred text.
