Councilmembers McCormick and Oravetz serve as the Citizen & Organization of the Year Committee. Once nominations have been made, the Committee arranges for the judging to be done by members outside the City of Dublin. The judges this year were from the Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau. The winning organization is announced/recognized at a City Council meeting with a proclamation and by having their organization' s name placed on a perpetual plaque.' They are invited to participate in the St. Patrick' s Day parade and festival and two representatives of the organization are the City' s guests at the Chamber of Commerce's annual St. Patrick's Day luncheon where they are presented with a plaque by the Mayor. The groups nominated this year include: Easter Seals Kaleidoscope and Dublin United Soccer League. Letters have been sent to the nominated organizations advising them of their nomination. Staff recommends that the Mayor announce the winner of the 2000 Organization of the Year award and present the proclamation.
