NOMINATION OF C.R. ("BOB") COCILOVA FOR DUBLIN'S CITIZEN OF THE YEAR If you don't know Bob Cocilova, you haven't been around Dublin very long! Bob has been a major contributor to a variety of community service projects for many years, but t will focus on his contributions this past year for purposes of this award. Bob is the creator of the Dublin Senior Center Foundation, and continues to serve as its President. The Foundation raises funds for amenities for Senior Center clients and for the new Senior Center expected two years from now. Bob has been responsible for managing the Foundation's fireworks booth each year, including all the heavy "grunt" work of setting up and breaking down the booth and spending untold hours stocking and selling fireworks. Bob arranges triips and tours for seniors and serves as host. If you go on a trip with Bob you never have a problem, because Bob solves every problem. Bob contributes a mini-newsletter to the Center's "Dublin Doings" each month and is the "Bingo Master" on a monthly basis as well. There is no task for seniors, large or small, that Bob can't do - and he does them all well. His involvment with seniors would be a full-time job, EXCEPT ...... that he also carves out many hours to serve the Lion's Club of Dublin. He is currently the Treasurer, but he is also one of those rare people that helps organize and do the grunt work for many of the C!ub's projects, e.g. preparing food for the recent opening of the Emerald Glen Park. Bob has barbequed more ribs and hamburgers and served more beans and potato salad than it takes to feed the U.S. Army, and he's usually part of the kitchen crew as well. Bob and his wife Helen will be moving to Lincoln, CA this spring, and his pending departure has made those of us who know him realize just how much he will be missed, and how hard he has worked to make Dublin a great place to live. Bob should be recognized with this award not just for his contributions this past year, but for the thousands of hours he has devoted to our City over the past many years. in addition to being a wonderful family person and friend, he is the kind of citizen we hope everyone who lives in Dublin will be. We betlave he best exemplifies the qualities the City of Dublin is seeking as its Citizen of the Year. Tim makes tremendous contributions in his role as a teacher in the classroom. However, his contributions only begin there. Tim is a Dublin High School graduate - Class of 1993. This in and of itself is not significant except to say that when choosing a place of employment and residence, Tim made a conscious decision to return to the City of Dublin. When he was questioned as to "Why you would want to come back to Dublin?" His response typifies his commitment to our community. "1 wanted to come back to Dublin, because it afforded me such a great opportunity and I wanted to give something back to my community - it's a great place to live and work." Tim has definitely "given back" significantly in his relatively short tenure returning to Dublin. He writes a column entitled '~4round Dublin" for the Valley Times. He coaches three (3) Varsity sports at Dublin High School - Men & Women's Tennis and Women's BasketbaR. Tim instituted the Leo Club, which is a feeder to our City's Lion's Club- He is also on the Beard of Directors for Dublin Lion's and Dublin Padhers in Education. He is Dublin High School's Student Activities Director thereby lending tremendous support via our youth for the City of Dublin. He is the advisor for the Young Democrats and Young Republicans Clubs. Tim is a member of the School District's Diversity and Heartbeat Committees. Tim also supervises and is the site director for North Coast Section events. You may wonder when this man sleeps. sponsored by Dublin High School. Tim colleague and friend- We can not think Citizen of the Year, Rumor has it he cloesn't because he is at every school dance is the epitome of a Dublin Citizen.
