DESCRIPTION: On March 20, 2001, the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for Contract No. 01~06, Annual Slurry Seal Program. Slurry seal is a preventive maintenance technique used to prolong the life of asphalt surfacing. Slurry consists of a sand/oil mixture which seals cracks and provides a new uniform wearing surface. City streets are slurried approximately every five to seven years, depending upon the level of wear. Failed pavement repairs, which are required prior to the placement of slurry seal, have been performed in the past as part of the Annual Overlay contract. However, this year's Slurry Seal contract will include the failed pavement repairs, as the slurry seal will take place before the overlay project. A total of four bids were received for the project (Attachment 2). The low bidder is American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing Co., Inc., with a total bid of $108,510.80. Staff has reviewed the bid results and recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract No. 01-06, Annual Slurry Seal Program, to American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing Co., Inc. COPIES TO: Bidders ITEM NO. g:\mntcproj\slurryXAS award 01-06 ' RESOLUTION NO. - 01 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 01-06 2000-2001 ANNUAL SLURRY SEAL PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on May 3, 2001, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract No. 01-06, 2000-2001 Annual Slurry Seal Program, authorized by the City Council on March 20, 2001, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings trader the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract No. 01-06 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing Co., Inc., at a bid of One Hundred Eight Thousand Five Hundred Ten Dollars and Eighty Cents ($108,510.80), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
