DESCRIPTION: The portion of the Iron Horse Trail from the City Limit to Amador
Valley Boulevard has recently been completed. The Council has approved a Capital Improvement Project
to enhance the trail entrance at Amador Valley Boulevard. The project included the amenities of an
informational kiosk, two benches and a waste receptacle. The kiosk would have maps and information
that will be available to the citizens of Dublin as well as other users of the trail. Council directed staff to
provide information on the amenities that are available for their review and approval.
Kiosk Design
Staff obtained details of the standard information board which East Bay Regional Parks District (EBRPD)
provides and felt that the City Council might also want the opportunity to review more decorative kiosks.
Staff is also of the opinion that the metal alternate would hold up better to weather and vandalism.
Attached are photographs of the two prefabricated metal kiosks and the standard EBRPD information
board. The EBRPD kiosk would be installed and maintained by EBRPD. The metal kiosks would be
installed and maintained by the City.
Staff requests that the City Council review these three alternates and select one for installation on the Iron
Horse Trail.
Benches and Waste Receptacle
Included in the attachments are designs of the benches and waste receptacle. The bench shown is the
same design as benches presently located along the San Ramon Road bike path. However, Staff proposes
that recycled plastic boards be specified rather than the wood. The proposed waste receptacle is also faced
with the recycled material.
Staff recommends that the City Council confirm Staff's design choices for the two benches and one waste
receptacle to be installed on the Iron Horse Trail.
