Thompson, Public Works Director ATTACHMENTS: 1) 2) 3) Resolution Budget Change Form Summary of Bid Results RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution awarding bid to Greenline Landscaping and approve a budget increase from unallocated General Fund Reserves in the amount of $3,358.00 FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Budget Low Bid Improvements: 10% Contingency: $20,240 $21,453 $ 2,145 TOTAL: $23,598 The cost of this project is paid 'from the City's General Fund (001). The low bid received was $21,453.00. Due to additional conduits required for irrigation wiring, a budget increase of $3,358 (including a 10% contingency) from General Fund (001 ) Reserves is necessary to complete this project. DESCRIPTION: On October 17, 2000, the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for Contract No. 00-15, Dougherty Road Tree Planting. This project will plant approximately 54 Sycamore trees (15-gallon size) along the east side of Dougherty Road between Amador Valley Boulevard and 350 feet north of Willow Creek Drive. Work will also include extending the irrigation system with bubblers to service the trees. At present, the east side of Dougherty Road is landscaped with trees from the Camp Parks entrance to Amador Valley Boulevard. This project will continue the row of trees north along Dougherty Road to an existing drainage swale just north of Willow Creek Drive. The land past this location to the northern City limit line drops away from the road and cannot be planted with trees until the roadway is widened to its ultimate configuration. A total of 5 bids were received (see Attachment 3). The qualified low bidder is Greenline Landscaping, with a bid of $21,453. DB Landscape's bid did not include a signed addendum, and thus, is disqualified as being unresponsive. Staff has reviewed the bids, determined that the low bid contractor has successfully performed similar projects, and recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract No. 00-15 to Greenline Landscaping and approve budget increase of $3,358 from General Fund (001) Reserves. PLANTING TO GREENLINE LANDSCAPING. WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on November 14, 2000, publicly open, examine, and declar~ all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract No. 00-15, Dougherty Road Tree Planting, authorized by the City Council on October 17, 2000, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract No. 00-15 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit Greenline Landscaping, with a bid of Twenty One Thousand Four Hundred Fifty Three Dollars ($21,453), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
