DESCRIPTION:
At the November 13, 1989, City Council meeting, the Council authorized Staff
to solicit bids for 14 benches to be used at bus stop locations which are not
getting Livermore/Amador Valley Transit Authority bus shelters. The benches,
as well as the shelters, would replace the advertising benches that are
presently at the bus stops. LAVTA estimates their shelters will be installed
in April, and the City's benches would be installed at the same time.
Staff received a total of 3 bids on the benches, the lowest of which was from
Wabash Valley Manufacturing, Inc. , at a cost of $251.25 per bench, for a total
of $3,517.20. An additional cost of approximately $2,400 will be incurred by
the City's maintenance department for assembling and installing the benches.
Staff recommends that the City Council (1) adopt the resolution awarding the
bid and authorizing issuance of a purchase order to Wabash Valley
Manufacturing and (2) authorize a budget transfer from unallocated reserves in
the amount of $5,920.
