Rankin, Assistant City Manager) EXHIBITS ATTACHED: Proposed Budget. RECOMMENDATION: Approve participation. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: A City contribution not to exceed $2,775 has been requested. Funds are available in the 1989-90 City Council Community Promotion Account. DESCRIPTION: Mayor Moffatt has been working with community representatives to sponsor Dublin Pride Week - April 8 - 14, 1990. Mayor Moffatt has formed a committee which includes representatives of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, Dublin School District and service clubs. Saturday, April 21 , 1990 will be a special residential clean-up day. The Committee had to offset the two events due to a change in the school vacation schedule. The Dublin Schools will be observing their spring break the week prior to the Special Residential Clean-up. The Committee attempted to have the Garbage Company reschedule the pick-up, however, this could not be accomplished. In addition, the pick-up date has already been advertised in the Community Calendar. Mayor Moffatt is requesting that the City agree to fund the activities associated with the campaign. Primarily, the City funding would pay for things such as advertising, ribbons for school contest winners, flyers, etc. The items are identified in the attached 1990 Dublin Pride proposed Budget. The Mayor is requesting that the City Council authorize City funding not to exceed $2,775. The City has contributed funding in previous years on a "Not to Exceed" basis. Mayor Moffatt has indicated that he expects that the total expenditures will be less. The Committee is also hoping to help underwrite a portion of the costs through contributions from service clubs. As with the previous year, the Committee has also requested authorization to use the City seal on special trash bags during the clean- up campaign. Mayor Moffatt can provide additional information on the request at the meeting. Staff would recommend that the City Council approve the City's participation and authorize Staff to reimburse the Committee for expenses associated with Dublin Pride Week, which do not exceed the amount of $2,775. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- COPIES TO: ITEM NO. 1990 DUBLIN PRIDE WEEK PROPOSED BUDGET Litter Bags (10,000) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 600.00 Buttons (2,500) 400.00 Flyers (4,000) . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 150.00 Novelties (Brooms for Participation) . . . ... . 125.00 Certificates.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .
