Dear Diane:
As you are aware, the Dublin Little League in concert with the Danville Little
League and District #57 have created a new playing division, entitled "Challenger
Division.". This new division serves chi ldren fran ages 6 through 21 who suffer fran
physical and mental handicaps.
The response to this new effort has been, in a word, extraordinary. Dublin has
chartered two teams; Danville also two. These teams will play on Sundays starting
on April 8, 1990. The locations of play will alternate between Danville and Dublin.
We'are funding this program through corporate and municipal donations exclusively.
We are funding this program specially to avoid straining the already tight budgets
of the local leagues. In this regard, we are requesting that .the City of Dublin
waive field usage fees for practices and league games conducted in Dublin. This
aroounts to two hours per Sunday fran March .11 through April ~ " and four hours on
Apr il 22, May 6, May 20, June 3, and June 17. Further, on February 25 the Dub 1 in
Little League rented the Regional Meeting Roan at city Hall to accanplish Challenger
sign-ups. We request that the fees already paid for this task be credited to the
Dublin account.
We are proud that S.A.N.C.R.A. provided us with a $500 grant which we could not have
obtained without the help and support provided by you and Cindy Benson. We are also
pleased that the Pleasanton Recreation Department has donated $1000 to the program.
This program is and will continue to bring credit to the City of Dublin, and we
respectfully request the support of the City in any way possible.
I have a videotape explaining the program that is avai lable for your use should you
require it and I will be pleased to provide any further explanation and/or
assistance that you may request.
Very truly yours,
DUB IN LITTLE LEAGUE
