DESCRIPTION : At the December 18, 1990 meeting of the Dublin
City Council, the Council approved the design for the renovation of
the Dublin High School athletic fields and directed the consultant to
proceed with preparation of construction documents.
Construction documents are now ninety percent complete, and according
to the project timeline, Staff would be seeking city Council
authorization to bid the project at the April 8, 1990 meeting of the
Council. However due to the anticipated cutbacks in water
availability due to the drought restrictions proposed by the Dublin
San Ramon Services District, Staff is recommending that this project
be delayed.
At this time it is difficult to determine the length of the delay.
If, for example, the drought restrictions were rescinded prior to the
May 13, 1991 meeting of the City Council, the project could reasonably
be bid and awarded during this Fiscal Year. Construction could begin
in July and have limited impact on school use of the areas under
renovation. If, however, the restrictions are not lifted until
October as presently proposed, the project will have to be delayed
until spring.
It is therefore recommended that the City Council take the following
action:
1. Direct consultant to complete work on the
construction documents
2. Authorize Staff to delay bidding the project
until the drought restrictions are eased
3. Notify Dublin Unified School District of the
City's intention to delay the project
