1) Accept improvements under Contract 91-01.
2) Authorize final progress payment in the amount of
$4,039.56 to E and D Systems.

DESCRIPTION: On March 11, 1991, the City Council awarded Contract
91-01 to E and D Systems. The Annual Sidewalk Program replaces offset
sidewalks which may become tripping hazards.
During construction, Staff contained replacement to Maintenance Zones III
and V, the neighborhoods approximately within the boundaries of Alcosta
Boulevard, San Ramon Road, Amador Valley Boulevard, and Village Parkway.
This was due to the extremely expansive nature of the ground in those
areas and the resulting number of offsets. Since most of these offsets
were caused by ground expansion instead of tree root damage, the bid
item for Root Shield was eliminated, thereby reducing the actual cost of
construction. Sidewalk offsets remaining in the City will be temporarily
patched by the City's maintenance crews~ and included in next year's annual
program.
The Contractor also installed a handicap ramp at Davona Drive and Wicklow
which was made necessary by the relocation of the mid-block crosswwalk at
Murray School.
The City Engineer has reviewed the work on the project and determined that
it is complete and in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize
final payment to E and D Systems in the amount of $4,039.56~
