DESCRIPTION: At its meeting of October 28, 1991, the City Council
authorized Staff to advertise for bids for Contract 91-09, Sidewalk Safety
(Grinding).
This contract is supplemental to the City's annual sidewalk remove and replace
program, which replaces offset sidewalk which may present a tripping hazard. The
grinding program will grind offsets which are not caused by tree roots or excessive
ground movement at substantially lower costs, thereby increasing the number of
locations which can be corrected.
The City received a total of five bids (see attached bid summary) for this project.
The low bidder was Phil Thomasson Construction with a bid of $8,995.00. The
Engineer's Estimate for the work was $12,086.00.
Staff anticipates adding locations to the contract because of the cost savings.
Staff has reviewed the low bidder's proposal and checked with references and
recon%mends that the City Council award the bid to the low bidder.
