* This project was scaled back as a result of the City Council's mid-year budget
review. The only subdrains that are proposed to be installed will be in Stagecoach
Road, which is proposed to be overlaid. No budget revisions are recommended until
the City actually awards the bids.
CITY CLERK
DESCRIPTION: The annual overlay program consists of placing at
least a 1 1/2" asphalt overlay on streets that are in a deteriorated condition. A
special pavement fabric will also be placed over the travelway prior to the asphalt
overlay. This fabric helps bridge the existing minor pavement cracks and prevents
the reflection of cracks through the new asphalt. Before installing the overlay,
the pavement failures are dug out to the base rock and replaced with a new section
of asphalt. Repair is also done to the streets scheduled for the spring slurry seal
program.
The overlay program will receive funds from the State-Local Transportation
Partnership Program (SB140 Gas Tax). Included in this annual project is the
installation of subdrains in the medians on Stagecoach Road. The subdrains project
was reduced this year during the mid-year budget review to provide drains in the
street overlay area only. The other subdrains will be deferred to future year
projects.
The third and final phase of the Dougherty Road Bike Path is also included in the
Overlay Project because of the cost savings generated by doing two asphalt-related
programs together. This phase will complete the bike path from opposite Willow
Creek Road to the City limits. The bike path is funded by a grant from the
Transportation Development Act (TDA).
Streets to be overlaid are:
Bandon Drive (between Kimball Avenue and Davona Drive)
Lucania Street (between Davona Drive and Brighton Drive)
Bristol Road (between Brighton Drive and Tamarack Drive)
Amador Plaza Road (between Amador Valley Blvd. and Dublin Blvd.)
Golden Gate Drive (Dublin Blvd. to end)
Stagecoach Road (Turquoise Street to Amador Valley Blvd.)
Dublin Blvd. (south side, Alamo Canal to Dougherty Road)
Dublin Court (Dublin Blvd. to end)
Notices will be sent out prior to the beginning of work in order to advise the
residents and businesses that construction will take place on their street.
