The actual improvement cost is slightly higher than estimated at bid award primarily
due to additional failed pavement sections that were repaired prior to the slurry
seal.
The soils investigation work was increased due to additional borings needed on the
south side of the roadway fill when uncompacted fill was encountered.
DESCRIPTION: In April 1992, the City Council awarded Contract 92-04, the
Dublin Blvd./Silvergate Drive Modification, Phase I, to East Bay Excavating Company,
Inc. The project included removal of the existing island and striping, and the
installation of new asphalt berms, signing, and striping to revise the intersection
to a "T" configuration. At the City Council's direction, the asphalt berm was
extended on the north side of Dublin Blvd. from Silvergate Drive to Hansen Drive to
provide a safe access for pedestrians and wheelchairs around the three street light
poles.
The City Engineer has reviewed the project improvement and found it to be in
compliance with the specifications and special provisions. Staff recommends
that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize payment of $3,497.55
to East Bay Excavating Company, Inc.
