DESCRIPTION: The subdrains are being placed in locations where water is
seeping under the street sections, causing asphalt pavement failures. The water is
originating from median irrigation and from springs. These subdrains will intercept
the water before it gets under the street and will carry it off to a storm drain
system. The result of installing these subdrains is to extend the life of the
street pavement section.
Streets programmed for this work are:
1) Village Parkway (Dublin Blvd. north to Kimball Avenue)
2) Amador Valley Blvd. (East of York Drive)
3) Stagecoach Road (end of median near Stagecoach Park)
4) San Ramon Road (Dublin Blvd. to Amador Valley Blvd. and near Bellina Street)
The bid package for this project has been set up for alternate bids: Alternate "A"
is for the most critical subdrain locations; and Alternate "B" includes the areas
that need to be improved but the pavement is not showing as much stress as the
Alternate "A" locations.
The bidding of alternates allows the city to easily reduce the scope of work if the
bids come in over budget, or if Council elects to reduce the size of this project
upon receiving an update of the City's financial status at its April 12th meeting.
