Presentation on East Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station

None as a result of this presentation.
DESCRIPfION: The Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) has been working through management
consultants, Bay Area Transit Consultants (BATC) and architects in the design of the East Dublin/Pleasanton BART
station. The station plans are now 100% complete, and the parking lot plans are approximately 60% complete~ The
BART staff is appearing before the Dublin City Council to update the Council and the public on the station progress as
well as the proposed details and architecture of the station.
There have been two items of recent concern regarding the DublinlPleasanton BART extension:
The first is that BART's environmental report specified 3,000 parking spaces for the Eastern Station in the
DublinlPleasanton two-station scenario and 3,500 parking spaces if the Eastern Station is a single end-of-the-line station.
The preliminary plans have indicated 2,464 spaces based on not having enough land to provide all of the parking. It is
Staff's understanding that BART and Alameda County are negotiating to allow BART the necessary land to meet the
environmental report parking requirements.
The second issue is the reluctance of the BART Board in applying for grant funds for the West DublinlPleasanton Station,
based on the requirement to construct the Warm Springs Extension prior to the Western Dublin Station.
It is anticipated that these two issues will be covered by this BART presentation.

Other Pertinent Data:
o Design includes convenient bus/rail transit interface for existing and future
service by utilizing the Dougherty transit corridor, but does not preclude future
conversion of this corridor to light rail transit.
o Design provides signalized intersections at all major parking lot entrances.
o The project includes landscaping at perimeters of the facility as well as
interior to the site in order to provide a pleasant appearance to the parking
facility and be a good neighbor to adjacent development when it occurs.
o Canopies are provided on both the north and south side of the station to
provide a weather protected path between the station and bus loading areas
for bus patrons as a further incentive to utilize transit as an alternative means
of transportation.
