RE:
November customer Service "Award of' Excellence"
The customer Service committee reviewed several nominations for the
November customer Service "Award of Excellence." This month, the
decision was particularly difficult due to a very unique
nomination. This special nomination included the names of three
Duplin police service employees who worked together to perform a
com~endable service to the Dublin community. This month, the
Cu&comer Service Committee is pleased to select, Sergeant Dave
DiFreinco, Officer Glen Melanson and Officer Denni-s Chl,1rich as the
joint recipients of the November 1993 "Award of Excellence."
Sergeant DiFranco has worked for Alameda County Sheriff's
Department for over 22 years. For the past ten years, DiFranco has
worked as Detective Sergeant with Dublin police Services, assigned
to crime Prevention, Sexual and Juvenile Crimes. Officer Melanson
has worked for Alameda County for about 12 years. He has been
'assigned to Dublin Patrol for 3 years. ,Officer Churich has worked
for Alameda County for 18 years. He has served the city of Dublin
since incorporation and is currently assigned to patrol. Dublin is
well served by these public safety veterans.
As you know, over the past several months the city of Dublin has
been targeted by graffiti vandals. city staff has joined together
to work to solve this community problem. The combined' efforts of
Sergeant DiFranco and Officers Melanson 'and Churich have resulted
in the identification and arrest of a major vandal who has plagued
the city of Dublin. Also as a result of staff team work, 12
additional graffiti related arrests were made in the past several
months.
This accomplishment represents a significant service to the Dublin
community. For the reasons stated above, the Committee believes
that Sergeant Dave DiFranco, Officer Glen Melanson and Officer
Dennis churich should receive the customer Service Award of
Excellence for November 1993. I will present the officers with the
award at the city Council meeting on october 25, 1993.
