DESCRIPTION : correspondence has been received from Bill
Foster, President of the Dublin sister city Association, requesting
that the fees for use of the Regional Meeting Room be waived for their
Second Annual Green & White Gala. The Green & White Gala is scheduled
for Saturday March 12, 1994 to coincide with the citywide st.
Patrick's Day Celebration. The evening will consist of dinner and
entertainment and it is anticipated that guests from Bray, Ireland
will be in attendance. In addition to being a social event for the
sister City Association, the dinner also serves as a fundraiser for
future activities of the Association.
Under the current Facility Use POlicy for the Dublin Civic Center, the
Dublin sister city Association would be classified as a Resident
Community Group. The fees for use under this classification are as
follows:
Use during regular business hours...............no fee
Use outside of regular business hours...........$20 per hour
Use for the purpose of fundraising..............$40 per hour
In addition to the fees shown
(refundable) is required and groups
insurance covering bodily injury
limit of $500,000 per occurrence.
If the City were to charge the Dublin sister City Association for use
of the Reg~onal Meeting Room as requested, the revenue generated would
total approximately $240 (6 hours at $40 per hour).
above, a $200 Security Deposit
must provide evidence of liability
and property damage at a minimum
Since ado~tion of the current Facility Use POlicy and Fee Schedule for
the Dubl~n Civic Center on January 11, 1993, the city Council has
only waived use fees for one other group, the Valley Volunteer Center.
However, it should be noted that there are a number of other community
groups who have paid for use of the Civic Center including the Dublin
United Soccer League, the Dublin-San Ramon Lions Club and the Dublin
Fine Arts Foundation.
.staff has prepared the following options for consideration by the city
council:
1. Waive Facility Use Fees but require Security Deposit and
certificate of Insurance.
2. Charge $20 per hour (Building Attendant Fee) and require Security
Deposit and certificate of Insurance.
3. Do not waive Facility/Use Fees, Security Deposit or certificate
of Insurance.

Dear Mr. Ambrose:
Please consider this letter a request by the Dublin Sister City Association to
have the City of Dublin waive the rental fees for the Community Room at the
Civic Center on Saturday, March 12, 1994.
The Dublin Sister City Association, in conjunction with the Annual St. Patrick's
City-Wide Celebration will be sponsoring the Second Annual Green & White Gala.
By having the event at the Civic Center, it is felt the focus is on the City
of Dublin, an important factor since the Dublin Sister City Association was
created to establish the promotion of the City of Dublin, California with friends
throughout the world.
I would like to thank the City of Dublin for their participation as a member of
the Sister City organization these past years and for your involvement and
encouragement in promoting our city.
Thank you for your consideration of Haiving of the use fees for the Community
Room at the Civic Center and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
