DESCRIPTION : Correspondence has been received from Lynn
Rogers, Boardmember and Director of the Alameda County Art Commission,
requesting City support of the Foundation For The Arts In Alameda
County. Specifically, they are requesting that the Mayor, on behalf
of the City council, send a letter to the Alameda County Board of
Supervisors expressing support for designating the Foundation as the
7th charity federation in Alameda County's annual Combined Charity
Campaign.
As explained in the attached letter, the Foundation For The Arts In
Alameda county was created by the Alameda County Art Commission as the
commission's not-for-profit fundraising arm. At present, one of the
Foundation's main strategies for fundraising is directed towards
expanding the base of individual donors who support the arts by making
contributions to the grantmaking programs of the Alameda County Art
commission. As a designated Charity federation in Alameda County's
Combined Charities Campaign, over 10,000 Alameda County employees will
have the opportunity to designate the Foundation as a recipient for
charitable donations. Funds raised would be used in conjunction with
other ARTSFUND contributions to make grants to arts organizations
throughout Alameda County. It should be noted that the Dublin Fine
Arts Foundation has received grants on an annual basis from the
Alameda County Art Commission.
staff has ~repared a draft letter of support and recommends that the
City Counc~l approve the letter and direct Staff to submit it to the
Alameda County Board of Supervisors for consideration.

Dear Mayor Snyder:
The Foundation for the Arts in Alameda County was created by the Alameda
County Art Commission as the Commission's not-for-profit fundraising arm.
At present, one of the Foundation's main strategies for fundraising is directed
towards expanding the base of individual donors who support the arts by making
contributions to the grantmaking programs of the Alameda County Art
Commission. Our first fundraising target is to become Alameda County's 7th
charity federation in its annual combined charities campaign which is directed at
the 10,000 Alameda County employees. Funds raised by the Foundation For The
Arts In Alameda County will be used in conjunction with our otherARTSFUND
contributions to make grants to arts organizations throughout Alameda County.
In order to meet the eligibility requirements set by the Board of Supervisors for
charity federations, we need letters from at least 3 governmental agencies in
Alameda County stating support for the Foundation For The Arts In Alameda
County as a charity federation in Alameda County's Combined Charity
Campaign. We are requesting a letter of support from you, on behalf of the City
of Dublin.
For your convenience, I'm enclosing suggestions for text which you may find
useful in drafting a letter of support. It would be most useful to us to have the
letter by Wednesday, September 14.
We thank-you for your attention to this matter, and for your support of our
acti vities.
~s truly,
Ly ~~1?!!:
