DESCRIPTION: On September 12, 1994, the City Council awarded Contract 94-
06, the Annual Slurry Seal Program, to Valley Slurry Seal Co.
Slurry seal is a preventive maintenance technique used to prolong the life of a street. It consists of a
sand/oil mixture which seals cracks and provides a new uniform wearing surface. The City streets are
presently on a seven-year cycle. Before streets are seal coated, oil spots are removed and asphalt
failures are repaired.
Streets which were slurry sealed for this contract are as follows:
Bonniewood Court
Sharon Street
Chatham Street
Sheffield Court
Firethorn Way
Bonfield Court
Lisa Court
Cardigan Court
Wineberry Way
Locust Place
Crossridge Road
Willow Creek Drive
Bonniewood Lane
Kilrush Avenue
Cardiff Drive

Elgin Lane
Cranford Lane
Mayan Court
Canterbury Court
Mulberry Place
Cypress Court
Squirrel Creek Circle
Sharon Court
Limerick Avenue
Cardiff Court
Wexford Court
Knollwood Place

The repair of street failures prior to slurry sealing was performed with the City's Annual Overlay
project, budgeted in the Street Maintenance Operating Budget, and paid by gas tax funds.
The City Engineer has reviewed the work on the project and determined that it is complete and in
accordance with the approved specifications. Staff recommends that the City Council accept the
improvements under this contract as being complete.
